SHOWCASE BUILD

PROJECT: HARLEQUINN

Derived from the popular comic book character Harley Quinn, due to its ‘two colours’, Project Harlequinn was an exceptional build to work on.

Being one of our first showcase builds for Gorilla Gaming it set us many challenges but put us firmly on the map for making exceptional builds. With the video reaching over 14k views within the first 7 days and being shared worldwide we knew we’d made it. Voted our best build for 2017 by our fans and followers it truly is a unique build.

When the Thermaltake Tower 900 was released we were in awe with its appeal. We instantly knew it had to be our choice of case for our first showcase build. Naturally the theme had to be our Gorilla Gaming trademark Black and Yellow theme so we set off with Thermaltake C1000 Black and Yellow coolant.

Checking reviews and builds of the Tower 900 almost all had used hard tube for the custom loop. Not one to follow the crowd and wanting to do something different we decided to go with soft tube as we preferred the girth of the 19mm pipe. Not only did we prefer the girth we wanted to show off our new laser cutter by cutting our own ‘pipe-combs’ designed in-house.

The build itself was fairly straight forward, fitting the CPU, RAM and Motherboard as such. What we had to get right was the placement of the custom loop. This had to be placed perfectly in order to get the right angles for the pipes as well as fit a flush tap on each loop for easy maintenance.

We then added our own custom black and bellow braided cables to finish the build off. Made from 17 AWG wire and quality sleeving the colour combination of each wire was meticulously chosen to represent the build.

Now to set the build apart, from every other Tower 900 build… we cut new 5mm clear acrylic panels with our own laser machine to replace the existing smaller tempered glass and mesh panels. In doing so we opened up the case and give a clearer view of the fans, components and our superior craftsmanship. With over 1670 hexagons cut out of the panels each side panel took just over 1 hour to cut and complete. We’re by far the first to create such panels for the Tower 900 and have had worldwide acknowledgment as well as Thermaltake themselves wanting to showcase our build at the UK’s largest gaming event in August 2017.
